Originally an independent city Westport was annexed by Kansas City in 1897. Historic Kansas City, the Westport Regional Business League and the City of Kansas City are in the process of developing a long-term plan for the district to protect the district’s cultural resources.

Collen Kelly works behind the bar on a Saturday afternoon. “I am fully aware that my current title as ‘third generation owner’ has little to do with what I have accomplished and everything to do with what my family has done over the last 70 years,” Colleen said. “I am just proud to be a part of the last nine and I can only hope to be a part of the success of the next seventy.”
