I made my first real trip to Illinois this week, my only other foray into the Land of Lincoln being a brief trip to East St. Louis after missing an exit. This trip to Springfield was also pretty brief, drove in Tuesday night and left Wednesday afternoon. My girlfriend was there for a job interview so I killed some time wandering around downtown near the capitol playing tourist/shutter monkey. I don’t know about the rest of Illinois but Springfield is definitely the Land of Lincoln, much more so than Independence is to its hometown president Harry Truman. I didn’t really feel like doing the museum thing so I just walked around camera on my shoulder, shooting whatever happened to catch my eye. The highlight of the morning was when a fellow photog working with a man in costume as the 16th President of the United States were spotted by a group of school children touring the capitol. I didn’t make a very good frame of it but its certainly something for the ” You don’t see that every day file.” Cheers, AV.
