I grew up in northwest Arkansas where I spent my boyhood exploring the woods near my home, hunting for crawdads in the crick and jumping my Dukes of Hazard big wheel and a succession of bikes off of anything that was available. My Mother first introduced me to photography with her SLR and toy film cameras I received for Christmas. I didn’t begin to seriously pursue it till much later when a job at a photo lab led to my studying photojournalism at Pittsburg State University in southeast Kansas. I’ve spent a decade as a photojournalist, working as a freelancer and as a staff photographer at newspapers in Kansas and Missouri and am currently a staff photographer at the Kansas City Business Journal after completing the coursework for my masters degree at the Missouri School of Journalism. I still like to play in the woods and am an avid hiker, backpacker and mountain biker though I do find myself jumping off of fewer things these days.
